Aims
Journal of Music Theory and Transcultural Music Studies (JMTTMS) is an international peer-reviewed journal that aims to bring together music theory and transcultural music studies within a common academic framework. The journal provides a scholarly platform for original studies that examine music not only as a technical and theoretical structure, but also through cultural transitions, identities, migration, diaspora, technology, performance practices, and global interactions. JMTTMS seeks to establish a distinctive niche by combining classical approaches to music theory with contemporary, transcultural, and interdisciplinary methodologies.
Scopes
JMTTMS publishes studies in the fields of music theory, music analysis, harmony, form, modality, microtonality, jazz theory, contemporary music, popular music, film music, electronic music, performance studies, and music theory pedagogy. The journal also welcomes research focusing on transcultural musical interactions, ethnomusicology, music and migration, diaspora, identity, globalization, media, digital music cultures, music heritage, postcolonial music studies, and music production in diverse cultural contexts.
